"Coffee pe chalogi?"
As he delivered his words , pin drop silence occupied the environment.
"Thanks for the offer, but I think I should probably head back to work," she says, gesturing towards the door of his office. "I've got a lot of work to catch up on."
He looks at her, trying to mask his disappointment.
"Oh, okay," he says, trying to keep his tone casual.
He turns away, feeling a slight pang of rejection. It's clear that she doesn't want to go out for coffee with him, and he's not sure why.
He looks out of his office window, trying to shake off the uncomfortable feeling in his chest.
She sees the disappointment in his expression, and she feels a pang of guilt. She remembers how he rushed to help her earlier, and how worried he looked yesterday when she burned her own hand.
"Actually, you know what?" she says, making up her mind. "Why not? A coffee sounds good right now. Let's go."
"Ohh okay!" He said surprised by her sudden change of words. "Let's go"
As they head towards the door, her heel catches on the edge of a rug, causing her to stumble.
Before she can fall, her catches her by the arm, steadying her.
Their eyes meet for a brief moment as he helped her regain her balance.
Her face is flushed from the almost-fall, and she quickly looks away, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"Girija" He muttered under his breath.
"Bholu ram." She murmured as she rolled her eyes leaving from the cabin.
As they enter the cafe, they are greeted by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the soft sounds of jazz music playing in the background.
Akarsh gestures to a corner table, and they make their way over to it.
Once they're seated, she takes a moment to look around the cafe, noticing the warm, cozy atmosphere.
There are a few other customers quietly sipping their drinks and reading newspapers or books, and the soft hum of conversation fills the air.
"What will you like to have?" He asked.
"Coffee pine aaye hai to of course coffee." She replied being straight forward.
Akarsh signals a waitress over, and they place their order for two coffees.
As they wait for their drinks to arrive, the silence between them grows heavier.
The silence stretches on, and the tension is palpable.
Agraja fidgets in her seat, feeling increasingly uncomfortable.
She can't help but feel like there are a million unspoken things hanging in the air between them, things that they've both been avoiding for so long.
Finally, the waitress arrives with their coffees, placing them on the table with a polite smile.
As the waitress walks away, Agraja stirs her coffee absentmindedly with her spoon, still feeling the weight of the silence.
He clears his throat , breaking the silence. "Agraja," he says softly. "Do you... do you have a boyfriend?"
"Ji??" She questioned surprisingly. She takes a sip of her coffee, stalling for time.
"Why do you ask?" she says, avoiding his gaze.
"Nothing just , general knowledge. " He replied , taking sip from the cup.
Shechuckles at the comment.
"Well, general knowledge, huh?" she says with a teasing tone. "I guess that's one way to put it.
"So, no boyfriend then?" he asks again, looking directly at her.
Agraja meets his gaze, her expression softening.
"No, no boyfriend," she admits. "What about you?"
He shakes his head."Nah, no girlfriend either," he replies, taking another sip of his coffee. "I've been too busy with work to even think about dating."
Agraja : I see
Akarsh : Huh?
Agraja : Kuch nahi. Vaise kyu pucha?
Akarsh : bataya to general knowledge.
Agraja : voh nahi...Coffee ke liye kyu pucha?
Akarsh : aise hi.....
Agraja : Accha.
They finish their coffee in silence, each lost in thought.
After a while, they get up from their seats and make their way out of the cafe.
On the other side :
Vivek sits at his desk, surrounded by folders and documents, his attention focused on the computer screen in front of him.
The sound of his fingers typing on the keyboard fills the quiet room.
The sound of the cabin door opening interrupts the quiet, and he looks up to see his manager, Raj, entering the room accompanied by Seher.
Raj strides in, looking a bit harried.
"Vivek sir , we need to talk," he says, pulling up a chair. "I just got a call from the marketing department. They're concerned about the projections for next quarter."
Seher placed three cup of coffees on his desk.
Raj : Sir I was saying...
Seher : Raj bhaiya, pehle garam garam coffee pi lo , fir discussion karte hai.
Raj : Seher it's important.
Seher : To maine Kab bola it's not important, coffee thandi ho jayegi.
Vivek : Alright! Pass me the cup.
She got up and stretch her arm in order to pass him the coffee , but accidentally it fell on his shirt.
Vivek : What the hell!!
Seher : Shit! Sorry Var..Vivek sir.
She got up and went towards his side grabbing the tissue paper in her hand and started wiping the stain off from his shirt.
"Chal Jhuthi." This words escaped his lips as he remembered her words which she delivered during her interview that she loves multitasking and is very organised person.
She looked at him and found him already staring at her with weird expression.
She went back to her place , after trying her best to wipe the stain but realised it is not going anytime soon.
Raj : Such a irresponsible girl.
Raj murmured , to which Seher lowered her gaze.
Seher : Maine jaanke nahi kiya.
Raj : But who the hell behaves this way with their boss?
Seher : You aren't my boss , he is my boss. If he is not saying anything to me. Then why are you peeking your nose in between.
Vivek: Enough! Seher leave from here.
Seher : Wh...
Vivek : I said leave. And do other work. Raj will manage this.
Seher nodded and left from there.
Vivek : Let's focus on the work. I will change my shirt later.
He said as he settled himself on his chair.
They both discussed the work for a while then Raj questions him.
Raj : Sir! Why did you gave job to Seher. Clearly she isn't professional at all. Experience bhi nahi hai is ladki ko. Aur battameez to bohot hai.
Vivek chuckled.
Vivek : I know Experience nahi hai. Lekin aise hi karke sab new comers ko reject karenge to unhe Experience kaise milega? Aur rahi baat why did I choose her? Tum ek baat batao Raj , interview ke liye itne log aaye the. Bhale unke pass skills ho , lekin confidence ekdam zero tha. She has confidence this is the thing which I liked about her. Degrees bhi thik hi hai.
